Creating a scenario for a simulation interview

A scenario defines the flow of the conversation with the AI avatar, its purpose, and how the participant will be assessed. In this guide, we'll show you how to create your first scenario step by step.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Select the type of conversation

First, specify what you'd like to check during the call. You can choose from one of the pre-defined options:

  • Conversation simulation – for practicing sales, customer service, negotiations or difficult conversations.
  • Test of knowledge or competence – to test knowledge of specific topics, products or skills.
  • Procedures or onboarding – to verify knowledge of the processes, standards and rules in force in the company.
  • My own script – allows you to configure all settings yourself.

The pre-made version automatically selects the recommended settings. You can still change them later.

Once you have made your selection, click „"Next"”.

2. Complete the basic information

In this section, you provide the name of the scenario, the language of the conversation, and the instructions visible to the participant.

Script Title *

Give your scenario a short and unambiguous name, for example:

  • Sales conversation
  • Complaint handling
  • Offer presentation
  • Returns procedure knowledge test

The title will help you find the scenario in the list later.

The language of conversation *

Select the language in which the avatar should conduct the conversation. The participant should also respond in the selected language.

Additional options

Expand this section to specify the scenario's category and difficulty level. These settings are optional.

Description for participant *

Write down what the conversation is about, what role the participant is playing and what his or her task is.

Example:

In this conversation, you play the role of a sales representative for our company. Your task is to present our offer and acquire customers for our products.

The participant will see this text before the simulation begins. It does not affect the avatar's behavior.

Phone number requirement

Optionally, you can specify that the participant must provide a phone number when signing up for the interview.

After completing the required fields, click „"Next"”.

3. Configure your avatar and conversation context

In this step, you define who the avatar is, how it should behave, and how it will be presented to the participant.

AI Conversation Context *

This is the most important field in the entire scenario. Describe here:

  • who is avatar,
  • in what situation does the conversation take place,
  • what attitude does he have,
  • what information does he have,
  • how he should react to the participant's statements,
  • what he shouldn't do.

Write instructions directly to the avatar. You can use the following phrases:

  • „"You are…"”
  • „"Your job is..."”
  • „"Behave yourself..."”
  • „"Ask when..."”
  • „"Do not give the participant any hints..."”

Example:

You own a local grocery store that's been in business for many years. You have limited shelf space and are satisfied with your current suppliers. You're not actively seeking new products. However, you might consider collaborating if the participant presents compelling business arguments. You're busy and don't have time for long conversations; you're interested in specifics and business value.

There is help next to the field „How to write a good prompt?”. There you'll find a checklist and ready-made examples that you can paste and adapt to your conversation.

Additional instructions

This section is optional. It allows you to further define the avatar's behavior:

  • Industry or context – for example e-commerce, SaaS, retail.
  • Mood or tone – determines how the avatar reacts.
  • Resistance level – determines how easily the avatar will accept the participant's arguments.
  • The purpose of the conversation – informs the system what result the participant should achieve.
  • Additional knowledge – allows you to provide the AI with the information needed to conduct a conversation.

The purpose of the interview is primarily used for evaluation, reporting, and comparing results.

Avatar *

Choose an avatar to lead the conversation. Your choice affects, among other things, the voice and appearance of the person you're talking to.

Presentation *

Select how to display your avatar:

  • Avatar video – an animation of the speaking character is displayed while speaking.
  • Static photo – a still photo is displayed during the call.

Conversation mode

Select participant communication method:

  • Voice call – the avatar says, and the participant responds through the microphone.
  • Text conversation – the conversation takes place via text messages.

Before proceeding further you can use the button „"Avatar Preview"”.

4. Set the conversation flow

Choose one of three ways to run the simulation.

Casual conversation

The avatar conducts a natural conversation without a predetermined question sequence. The AI evaluates the overall statement, goal completion, and conversational style.

For this variant, set:

  • Estimated talk time * – specifies the expected length of the simulation.
  • Time to respond – optional time limit for a single participant's statement. Value 0 disables the limit.

This mode works best for simulations of sales, negotiations, customer service and other soft skills.

Conversation on the number of turns

The session ends after a predetermined number of exchanges between the avatar and the participant. The AI evaluates individual responses and then calculates a score for the entire conversation.

This variant will work well in knowledge tests and shorter follow-up interviews, among other things.

Milestone Scenario

The conversation is based on pre-defined steps, questions, or topics. AI monitors their implementation and evaluates the participant's responses.

This mode is most suitable for procedures, onboarding, and structured conversations.

After selecting the route and completing the required settings, click „"Next"”.

5. Set up a conversation score

In this section, you specify when the participant will pass the interview and according to what criteria they will be assessed.

Passing threshold *

Enter the minimum score required to pass the scenario. For example, the threshold 70% means that the participant must obtain at least 70% possible points.

Evaluation criteria

Select only those criteria that truly align with the purpose of the conversation. Available criteria include, but are not limited to:

  • communication,
  • clarity of response,
  • professionalism,
  • language competences,
  • customer orientation,
  • dealing with objections,
  • problem-solving,
  • knowledge,
  • knowledge of the product or service,
  • knowledge of the process,
  • compliance with policies and procedures.

For each selected criterion, set its weight on a scale of 1 to 5:

  • 1 - not very important,
  • 3 – moderately important,
  • 5 – very important.

Don't select too many criteria. In most scenarios, 3 to 5 well-chosen items will suffice. Too broad a range can reduce the clarity of the final assessment.

Own criterion

If the item you need is not on the list, click „"Add your own criterion"”. Briefly and specifically describe what the AI should look for in the participant's responses.

Once you have configured your rating, click „"Next"”.

6. Check your settings and publish your script

The final step shows a configuration summary. First, check:

  • title and language of the conversation,
  • selected avatar,
  • method of presentation,
  • conversation mode,
  • course of the scenario,
  • passing threshold,
  • number of selected criteria.

Recording a session

Call recording is available on select plans. If the feature is enabled, you can choose whether to record sessions here.

Scenario Status *

Select one of the available statuses:

  • Sketch – the scenario remains invisible to participants and can be further edited.
  • Active – the script is ready to be used and shared.

Before publishing, click „"Test the scenario"” and conduct at least one practice interview. Check if the avatar:

  • understands his role correctly,
  • maintains the expected resistance level,
  • does not prompt the participant to answer,
  • conducts the conversation in accordance with the purpose,
  • reacts naturally to various statements.

If everything works fine, set the scenario as active and click „"Save changes"”.
