Verification of soft skills on the example of sales skills
How to check if a candidate can sell, talk to a client, and resolve objections before inviting them for an interview – without wasting hours on unsuitable candidates.
Recruitment situation
Soft skills are the most difficult element of candidate evaluation. You can test knowledge and verify experience on a CV, but how can you truly assess whether someone can argue under pressure, handle a difficult conversation, or close negotiations when the other side resists? A traditional job interview doesn't demonstrate this – the candidate knows they're being assessed and responds based on how they want to be perceived, not how they actually behave.
Talkrank verifies soft skills in a simulated interview where the candidate doesn't answer the recruiter's questions—they must actually act. AI takes on a specific role and conducts the interview according to a pre-defined scenario. Candidates can't "meticulously" the answers—they can only demonstrate their actual skills. Below is an example scenario for a B2B sales representative who must introduce a new product to a brick-and-mortar store and convince a skeptical owner to purchase.

The audio interference heard in the recording during the avatar's "speech" was caused by acoustic feedback—the simultaneous playback of the avatar's response through the speakers and the recording of the session by the microphone at the same time. This type of interference does not occur during a conversation session.

Sample candidate scoring
After the interview, Talkrank automatically generates a candidate assessment report. The image below shows a sample session result – a final score of 7.50/10 marked "Passed," a detailed assessment of two criteria (Communication and Objection Management with weights of 3 and 5), a summary of the interview highlighting strengths and weaknesses, and specific recommendations for the candidate. Each report can be downloaded as a PDF.

This is a sample demo session. In a real-world recruitment process, the results depend on the number of candidates, the evaluation criteria adopted, and the specifics of the scenario – each process provides different, measurable data for making a recruitment decision.
